WWE superstar Drew McIntyre has reportedly extended his contract with the company, and details about the signing have emerged.
The Rock, a WWE veteran and TKO Group Board of Directors member, took to Instagram to share news of McIntyre’s contract extension. Along with the announcement, The Rock sent McIntyre a Scottish Claymore sword and a personalized message.
According to PWInsider, McIntyre signed the new deal approximately 2-3 days ago. The video posted by The Rock was filmed beforehand and shared once both parties agreed to the terms. The reported multi-year agreement is believed to span three years.
McIntyre’s wrestling journey has seen numerous highs, including winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match earlier this year, earning him a championship bout against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL. Despite a thrilling victory over Rollins to become the World Heavyweight Champion, his reign was cut short when Damian Priest cashed in his Money In The Bank contract.
Reflecting on his career, McIntyre highlighted his time as champion during the pandemic as one of his proudest moments.
In an interview with ReviewSTL, he emphasized the challenges faced by WWE during that period and his role in leading the company’s efforts to provide original content when other sports and entertainment industries were shutting down.
Currently embroiled in a heated rivalry with CM Punk, McIntyre faced an attack from The Best in The World on Night Two of WrestleMania XL, leading to Priest’s opportune title win.
