A recent WWE live event stirred controversy when a superstar faced boos from the crowd. Maxxine Dupri found herself in the spotlight due to this incident, prompting her to speak out in a recent interview.
As a member of the Alpha Academy, Maxxine’s performances in the ring have been closely watched. With limited televised matches under her belt, her inexperience has sometimes shown during her performances.
Dupri addressed the incident during an interview with Joe Vulpis on the Lightweights Podcast. When asked if she felt under more scrutiny than other WWE stars, she offered a thoughtful response.
“I think yes and no. I’ve been given a lot of grace because I’m learning on live TV, and my character reflects that. People understand these are my first reps, my first time performing in front of a crowd has been on Monday Night RAW. So on that level, people have been understanding,” Maxxine Dupri said.
However, she acknowledged the abundance of talented women in wrestling who may not be receiving the same opportunities. She expressed a desire to make those individuals proud despite facing additional scrutiny.
“I’m trying to present the best version of myself to the WWE Universe. I’m grateful for every opportunity, training hard, and aiming to improve each time. But I’m not perfect. I am human, and this is my first time doing this stuff,” she added.
While the Alpha Academy has been successful on WWE RAW, they seek a title to maintain relevance. Fans anticipate Chad Gable’s potential Intercontinental Championship victory in the future.
In a surprising turn, WWE World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, known for her heel persona, came to Maxxine Dupri’s defense. Despite their on-screen rivalry, Ripley showed support for Dupri after the live event incident, calling for understanding and empathy from fans.
“It’s great to see other superstars stand up to defend their colleagues during difficult times. Fans will likely see a better version of Maxxine Dupri in WWE sooner than later,” concluded Ripley’s tweet.
This incident sheds light on the challenges newcomers face in the WWE spotlight and the importance of empathy and support within the wrestling community.
